Oriya Wedding Ceremony

The Oriya wedding is just about same as any other Hindu wedding ceremony. The wedding differs only in one feature. Here, the groom’s mother does not participate in the wedding ceremony. The residual ways in the wedding occasion are same to other Hindu wedding.

The Oriya wedding ceremony is traditional starts with the “Jayee Anukolo” ceremony. In this ceremony the wedding cards are disseminated. Always the first card given to the Family divinity. The groom and bride’s maternal uncle get the second invitation. In the “Mangan” ritual, the bride is given a sanctified bath by applying turmeric paste on her body.

Then the bride lugging the “Diya Mangula Puja”, where the Goddess in the temple exists with bride’s sari, bangles, Sindoor and toe rings. Then the groom arrives at the wedding venue and it is called as “Barajatri”. The bride is knowledgeable regarding the influx of the groom in the “Baadua Pani Gadhua” ceremony. Another part of Oriya wedding is “Kanyadan” ceremony where’s the bride father gives the hand to the groom.

In “Haath Ghanti” ceremony the couple takes seven rounds around the “Havan Kunda”, the sanctified fire. Even while the Oriya wedding ceremony appear to be the similar as any other wedding in India, the mantras and other process to lug out those rituals are diverse in an Oriya Marriage.
