In India Marriage styles have endures a wonderful change in recent times. Today we see a lot of weddings taking place that are diverse from those executed in the yesteryear. A dowry means giving gifts to the family of the groom as stipulated by them. Though the dowry system has become a huge basis of social unrest today. It is measured a burden to the family of the bride and the demands have gone to such a vast scope that reports of dowry deaths have become common.

The custom of sati was a further marriage style that was rife in India. It is a social obstruction today and there have been huge changes in this system. Sati was self-immolation of the widow. This practice is measured prohibited today but tranquil there are occurrence of sati reported in some places of India.
