The Special Marriage Act came in regulation on 9th of October 1954 in India. Jammu and Kashmir territory is out of this law but special marriage act is applicable in all provinces of India. In special situations a boy and a girl can get married under this law.
The boy and girl those fulfill required age limit for marriage according Indian law can get married. According this law the boy and girl should not be real brother and sister, neither the child of same father different mothers nor same mother different fathers. Â
The boy and girl have to summit a special form in district with a written notice the forms can find from marriage officer. This notice can summit the district where the boy or girl, otherwise both is living together just before one month from submitting the marriage application.
A marriage officer has the right to set aside of marriage application only that cases in which the boy and girl don’t fulfill necessary clause. If officer doesn’t tell rejection point then party can appeal in District Court within 30 days from the rejection of marriage application. Â
